Ebun Sodipo
During Art Basel week 2023, VITRINE will host a screening of Ebun Sodipo's film 'Nasty Girl (The Sharpest Girl in Town)' (2023) in conjunction with her solo show at VITRINE Basel. 'Nasty Girl (The Sharpest Girl in Town)' was developed whilst on residency at VO Curations, London, UK (2022). Sodipo has applied the same technique she uses when creating her sculptures to the non-narrative film, overlaying found images, videos and gifs sourced from the artist's growing archive of internet found content over selected music tracks and becoming fast paced moving assemblage. Exploring desire in a multivalent manner, the works explore the archive as an exploration into her "own formation of personal narrative, self-possession and the aestheticisation of compositional materials" that reflect ideas around transformation, desire and sexuality.
Approximate runtime: 24 minutes.
