Cecilia Fiona
The preview for Cecilia Fiona's solo exhibition 'Weaving time, spinning spine' at VITRINE Fitzrovia, including a performance titled 'Pools of prayers (all intertwined)' by the artist, performed by Marguerite Vermersch, with music performed by Sophie Søs Meyer.
Alongside her wall-based paintings, Fiona expands her work into the 3-dimensional - with new sculptural works and a painted jute canvas costume - heightening the viewer’s experience of the mythical worlds she creates.
At the Preview, Fiona presents a new performance titled ‘Pools of prayers (all intertwined)’ in which a performer dressed in Fiona’s hand painted jute costume interacts with sculptures in the gallery, and imagery in the painted landscapes to explore coexistence between species, life cycles and transformations carried out through cyclical rituals and acts of care. The movements within the performance mirror the figures in Fiona’s paintings, expressing the connection between dream and reality, fiction and the corporeal and how performing imagined narratives can make the dreams become flesh and blood.
The performance will take place at 6pm and 8pm.
Performed by Marguerite Vermersch, and Sophie Søs Meyer.
