Charlie Godet Thomas is in residence at the prestigious Fundación Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido, MX, running from 24 April until 4 June 2023.
Thomas has been invited to partake in Casa Wabi's 2023 residences programme to develop a project that will engage in positive social and cultural development with the communities surrounding location.
Casa Wabi is a non-profit organization that encourages a dialog between contemporary art and the local communities based on their three locations: Puerto Escondido, Mexico City and Tokyo. Their name comes from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which believes on finding beauty and harmony in simplicity, the imperfect and unconventional. Their mission is focused on building a social development through art, which in itself is carried on through five core programs: residencies, exhibitions, clay, cinema and mobile library.
