Tarek Lakhrissi performs in 'BANG BANG' at Museum Tinguely, Basel, CH on Saturday 25 June, 2022.
Lakhrissi presents a new performance titled 'BEAST!', a joint commission between Museum Tinguely, MOVE Pompidou, Shedhalle Zürich and HKW Berlin. 'BEAST!' explores bestiality as a philosophical and political concept by drawing on the stigma that historically frames queers and PoC as monstrous. Through readings of his recent romantic/radical poems which is accompanied by vocals of Makeda Monet and the electronic music of Victor da Silva, the performance explores utopian queer passions, rituals for lost ones and dark corners to protect oneself in.
He will be performing as part of 'On the Radical Equivalence of Experience' running over 24 - 26 June 2022, which is one of seven thematic chapters making up the exhibition.
"All summer long, Museum Tinguely will be celebrating performance art in the show BANG BANG - translocal hi:stories of performance art. At the heart of this process-oriented exhibition is the Swiss performance scene, its players, and its networks, although the programme will be international in character.
The incredibly rich history of the medium will be presented in a unique kaleidoscope of video installations, performances, photos, and texts. BANG BANG will chart the development of performance art and redraw the contours of this constantly changing discipline. As a festival of performance art, BANG BANG is subdivided into seven thematic chapters, which on seven weekends will combine live performances, discussions, and presentations involving audiences, artists, scholars, and the museum. Whether spectacular or low-key, BANG BANG promises to be an unforgettable live experience at Museum Tinguely and the surrounding Solitude Park."
